One of the most frequent questions I get as a CSC VLE is: "Can I link my mobile number to Aadhar without standing in a long queue?" In 2026, the process has become much more digital-friendly. Today, I’ll show you how to start the authorization process right from your smartphone.
1. The "Doorstep" Service Request
The India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) now offers a specialized service where you can request a mobile update online. A postman will visit your home with a biometric device to complete the fingerprint verification. This is perfect for senior citizens or busy workers in our community.
2. How to Authorize Online (Initial Step)
You can go to the official UIDAI MyAadhar portal to book an appointment or request the doorstep update.
- Select the "Mobile Update" option.
- Enter your current Aadhar number and the new mobile number.
- Verify with the Face Authentication feature if your phone supports it.
⚠️ VLE Important Note
While you can start the process at home, a biometric scan (fingerprint or iris) is still required by law for security. Never share your OTP with anyone claiming to "remotely" link your Aadhar—it is a scam!
3. Tracking Your Request
After the postman visits or you visit a center, you can track the status using your URN (Update Request Number) on the UIDAI website. It usually takes 48 to 72 hours for the change to reflect.
Conclusion: Digital India is Here
Gone are the days of wasting a whole day at a center. Use these tools to save your time. If you have any trouble booking the service, feel free to visit our local CSC center for help.
